The problem might not actually be his shoe (if you're talking about the front leg). Rather, it might be the way the bottom of his pants are layered/folded around it. it should be folding to the shape of the shoe, not just blobbing itself out there. The back leg might be too long. If you think about it, if you bent you're knee, you're foot would be higher off the ground, so she should show that to make it look more natural.
